The information published at cmmcalibrationstlouis.com is general and descriptive. It is here to help a requester understand what can be arranged and what a request should contain. It is not a technical specification, an engineering opinion, or a certificate of any kind.

Uncertainty is part of every measurement result. Three things have to be read with the result for it to mean anything:

• the measurement uncertainty stated on the certificate
• the conditions under which the measurement was made
• the method used

Where a statement of conformity is issued it is a pass or fail against a tolerance, and it rests on a decision rule agreed before the work is performed. No page of this website states or implies a decision rule, an uncertainty figure, or a conformity outcome for any item.

Results are reported on the certificate or report issued by the laboratory that performed the work, in the form in which it is issued. That is the only place it is reported. No page of this website, no email, and no verbal statement made while arranging work is a certificate of calibration, a report of results, or an amendment to either. The certificate is valid as a complete document and should be read as one.

The standard applied to the work described here is ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Accreditation, wherever it is referenced, belongs to the laboratory performing the work and reaches only as far as the measurements listed in that laboratory's published scope. Work outside a published scope is still performed, and is reported as non-accredited work and identified as such on the certificate.
